In 2010, we have 3 primary genres of Rock. Indie/Electronica (Scene/Emo Music), Hate Rock (varg music, heavy guitars, inaudible lyrics) and “Mainstream Rock.” Mainstream Rock is the most vague when it comes to sound. It is sometimes a mix between old classic rock flavored with the new Neo-Hippie pussified sounds, such as Dave Matthews or Jack Johnson.
Let’s look at a shitty band a lot of common people like, “Kings of Leon.” Now, Kings of Leon suck ass. They only had one hit in 2003 that propelled them into some new kind of fame.

What’s so important about Molly’s Chambers? Well, it has Indie flavoring to it, not a trace of the Neo-Hippism. Kings of Leon wanted to be popular though, and they know what sells. What sells? Neo-Hippism. Almost all of their songs now are completely void of the sound found in Molly’s Chambers. That rough classic guitar mixed with indie sounds has now been replaced with the typical ball-less vocals, monotone guitars, and a whole of of boring. Just what neo-hippies want.
